Congratulations – poets of change

Change, it turns out, is the primary characteristic of our lives – whether we’re aware of it or not.

The astounding stylistic and thematic range of the 50 poems in this Longlist provide different observations of such currents of shift – in ourselves and in the world around us. They do what powerful art always does: they offer the reader the consolations of insight and connection which enable us to live our lives for the better.

The judges said ‘this was one of the most difficult, and rewarding, tasks – there were so many wonderful poems that we couldn’t include within the limit – congratulations to everyone who entered – we were honoured to read your work – thankyou’.

The Longlist (and the anthology) is ordered alphabetically, this year from Z to A – just to change it up!

The Judges: Rose Lucas, Ali Whitelock and
Reneé Pettitt-Schipp
