Double launch at Willy Lit Festival

Two wonderful books celebrated

Last weekend at the Williamstown Literary Festival a big crowd celebrated our two new collections – Remarkable as Breathing by Rose Lucas and Volte Face by Dominique Hecq. Thanks to Jennifer Harrison and Ross Gillett for their reflections and ‘doing the honours’.

These elegant poems, or portals into seeing, ‘sink into what is already deep’ (‘Logan’s Beach in winter’): the ocean, stillness, love, the mind, gratitude. Rose Lucas brings unapologetic beauty to the unfolding spirit of breathing and being. What a delight to walk this path with her, seeing what the poet sees and, indeed, feeling that each poem is a path that you have never walked before.  Jennifer Harrison

What a mercurial talent she is! Dominique Hecq charges her poems with such ludic shifts of syntax and reference the reader’s mind is wonderfully altered. She is alert, argumentative, she is funny. She feels acutely. I felt her poems shifting my understanding of rhythm from a physical to a mental state, energised by her startling and imaginative observations. It is a brilliant collection.   Philip Salom
