LYN McCREDDEN
Released
Released is a set of poetic meditations written during a period of profound grief, that asks fundamental questions about death and dying, and what might sustain hope, mercy and creativity in the face of personal pain, war and social inequities. Released contemplates how a battered world could move creatively and even joyfully into the future.
The elegies in this volume are resonant in their love, drawing together past and present with a lyrical immediacy and luminosity. Released makes vivid our entwined lives, emergent individuation, and the ineluctable paths we tread. Against those who stay heedless to everyday patterns of disempowerment, colonial violence and global suffering, Released exudes care, inviting readers to share in its warm, even radiant, reflectiveness of the world. It emanates sustenance, the power of joy, and takes us along on moments of flight. Ann Vickery
