The fellowship of poetry – two in one

Cassandra Atherton launched Sahara Rain by Stephanie Green, AND Jen Webb launched Following the Wagons: A Poetic Trail by Kimberly K. Williams, at the Barton ArtBox, Canberra 24 October 2026

Beautiful Spring day in Canberra yesterday to celebrate two new books of poetry. Stephanie Green’s collection Sahara Rain was launched by Cassandra Atherton with on-brand verve and insight, and revelation of a secret love of hydrangeas, not just hibiscus. And Stephanie read rain poems, and others, to offer us reflections on environments from Morocco to central Queensland.

Then we were transported in time and place and perspective as Jen Webb launched Following the Wagons by Kimberley K. Williams and Kimberly took us on the journeys, physical and emotional, of women following the wagons rumbling west in the US in the mid-1800s.

Fabulous event. Lots of discussion in the crowd afterwards – Canberra poetry people in full swing.
