A celebration of light

On 15 June 2023 Diane Fahey’s luminous new collection The Light Café was launched by Ross Gillett.

In this collection Diane Fahey engages with the worlds of nature, art and story. She brings a contemplative awareness and vibrantly perceptive eye to poems on the moon and ekphrastic evocations of specific paintings. These are poems filled with the light of what can be shown and understood, and what might be hidden in shadow, waiting to be revealed.

Watch and listen to Ross’ reflections on this wonderful book. And hear Diane read and comment on her poems

Diane Fahey lives and writes on Wadawurrung Country, and acknowledges the Traditional Custodians, past, present and future, of this place.

Her books have been shortlisted for Premier’s Awards, the ‘Age’ Book of the Year Award, and the John Bray Poetry Award. Her poetry has engaged with myth and fairy tales, visual art, life writing and nature writing – with a particular focus on birds, and on place.
